Governor Cooper recently mandated the closure of all barbershops, among other businesses, in response to COVID-19. We have mixed feelings about this news. On one hand, we feel bad for our team members and customers. On the other, we appreciate closing is a necessary measure for public health. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
We expect all of our shops to be closed for at least the next couple weeks.
What We're Doing
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. Or, as we say in the hair industry, life gives you a receding hairline, you grow a beard.
These are scary, stressful, uncertain times. This is especially the case of our team members. They are all professionals, who have trained for years at their craft. Who are used to having a steady stream of clients in their chairs. Who earn a great living, while being able to support a creative life. Who are now not able to work while we collectively focus on our society's health.
We care deeply about our team, as people and professionals, and want to do what we can to support them in these tough times.
We have always been proud to contribute to a healthcare insurance plan for our team. Last week we told our team we would be covering 100% of their healthcare insurance premium for the next month. This is a significant cost for our business, but one we want to make to support our team, especially during a time when having healthcare coverage is vitally important.
We are vigilantly watching all updates on how our state and federal governments will respond to the number of workers who can not earn their normal paycheck. We are trying to do what we can to advocate for our team, and the other great people we know who are - or have been - employed by local businesses forced to close.
What You Can Do
As a way to show appreciation for our team - or your individual stylist - we quickly designed this t-shirt. Here is the deal:
Purchase your t-shirt here. We will donate all net proceeds to our team.
The above link has an option to earmark your donation to a particular stylist. It also allows you to make a donation without purchasing a shirt.
- For those of you cooped up inside with children, download this PDF, have your kids color it and share a picture of the resulting artwork. We'll choose the best colorings and message winners a gift card for a kids cut.
If you have any other ideas as to how you would like to support our team, please tell us. We are all ears, all action in this time of need.
We are a small, local business. We care deeply about our community - our team members, our customers and our broader cities. We want all of us to get through the current situation in good health, and be able to resume our prior lives. We look forward to being able to have you looking sharp again before long.
